Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Encoding and decoding happen inside your browser, and your files never leave your device.

What is Base64 for?

It turns any data into plain letters and numbers, so files can travel inside text, such as emails, web pages or JSON.

How big a file can I use?

Files up to 50 MB are tested. Larger files may still work, but your device could run out of memory.

What file do I get when I decode?

Toolkettle looks at the decoded data to recognise common types such as PDF, JPG and PNG, and names the file to match. Anything else downloads as a .bin file.

Does it handle emoji and accented letters?

Yes. Text is encoded as UTF-8, so every character comes back exactly.
