About Toolkettle

Toolkettle is a set of free tools for everyday jobs with files and text: counting words, formatting JSON, making QR codes and more. There is no sign-up, no waiting and no daily limit.

How your files stay on your device

Every tool runs inside your browser. When you choose a file or type some text, it is read and changed by your own device. Nothing you add is sent to a server, so we never see it, store it or pass it on.

Some tools need extra parts, such as the code that reads videos. Your browser downloads those parts once, like any web page, and keeps them for next time. Your files still stay with you.

Questions

How can a website work on my files without uploading them?

Your browser can run programs itself. When you open a tool, the browser downloads the tool, not your file, and then does the work on your own device.

Can I check that nothing is uploaded?

Yes. Open your browser's developer tools, choose the Network tab and use a tool. You will see no request that carries your file.

Does Toolkettle use cookies or track me?

No cookies are set. We count page views and whether tools work, without names, files, text or anything that identifies you.

Why is it free?

Toolkettle costs very little to run, because your device does the work. Space for ads is set aside for the future, away from the tools.
